Mary Williams, 46, lived at Parks at Ravenna on Bonair Drive Most of damage done in master bedroom area Williams was not injured
"It was so strong that I felt like it was going to take the window out," said tenant Mary Williams, 46. "That’s why I had to literally jump to the ground."
The incident happened at about 11:20 a.m., at the Parks at Ravenna Apartments, located at 6911 Bonair Drive in Tampa. Williams said she had just gotten out of the shower when the storm hit.
"Literally, I thought it was a small tornado," she said. "My neighbor knocked on my door and she was like, the whole roof is gone."
Most of the damage happened in the master bedroom. Daylight could be seen from inside the apartment and insulation covered the carpet.
Williams said she was lucky that she wasn’t injured.
"Had I been in my bed," she said. "God knows."
Spectrum Bay News 9 Chief Meteorologist Mike Clay said Klystron 9 shows a strong storm rolled through the area at the time that could’ve produced a brief microburst.
Williams said she had lived in that apartment for 11 years.
