Cirque Du Soleil Aerialist Falls On To Stage In Tampa, Dies

TAMPA, FL — A longtime Cirque du Soleil aerialist fell while performing an "aerial straps number" during a show in Tampa and has since died of his injuries.

Yann Arnaud was performing in the show VOLTA on Saturday night when he fell onto the stage, the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group said in a release. He received medical treatment immediately and was taken to a a nearby hospital where he died, the company said.

"The entire Cirque du Soleil family is in shock and devastated by this tragedy," the company said. "Yann had been with us for over 15 years and was loved by all who had the chance to know him."

The company said its focus will be to support Arnaud’s family and his colleagues in the coming days and weeks.
